The BUMC Advent wreath is created using evergreen boughs, symbolizing everlasting life in the midst of winter and death. The circle of the wreath reminds us of God’s unending love and the eternal life He makes possible to those who beleive in Him. A new candle is lit on each of the four Sundays before Christmas. The four candles represent HOPE, FAITH, JOY (the pink candle) and PEACE. The fifth candle is the white Christ candle and it is placed in the middle of the wreath. We light the white candle on Christmas Day to celebrate Jesus’ birth.
